Welcome to the Cargo Fever website. Cargo Fever is a novel by Will Buckingham, set in the wilds of Indonesia and published by the acclaimed independent publishers, Tindal Street Press.

Cargo Fever explores the Indonesian myths of the orang pendek – the so-called “Short Man”, said to live in the forests of Sumatra – in a fresh, funny and philosophical contemporary novel. Tackling important themes such as the role of religion, cultural memory, rationalism and yeti-smuggling, the novel asks what it is to be human, and explores the twilight world of the boundaries between Homo sapiens, Gods, ancestors and animals.
